
As SOLEX 2025 came to a close, LOFA Chairman, Steve Millington, sat down with the SOLEX SUN team to reflect on another very succesful SOLEX event.
SOLEX 2025 was Steve's second show as LOFA Chairman as he is now halfway through his three year period at the helm of the organisation.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has attended SOLEX this year and the exhibitors which we've had more than 2024. It's been a great show, which I think has been helped by the weather this year and it appears the surplus stock from previous years has now all sold through. So that led us into SOLEX in a great position where buyers could come and look at all the new products and place their orders for 2026.
"As Tom Chambers we've picked up at least four new businesses who've placed container orders at the show which is very encouraging.
"I now hope the good weather continues for soe more great outdoor leisure in the garden.
"I'd like to thank everyone who attended our F1 event on Tuesday night which was a massive success. After last year’s inaugural Euro 2024 event with Dion Dublin, “Crofty” from Sky Sports was a brilliant presenter. Not only did he engage with people on the stage, but he was also quite comfortable with engaging with them off stage and spending the whole evening with us. Right through to the finale of the simulator challenge which he commentated on. It was just an absolute absolutely brilliant evening, something for us to build on for 2026.
"The dates for SOLEX 2025 are 7th to 9th July, back here in Hall 5 at the NEC. I look forward to seeing everyone back here then. Thank you."

Gina told SOLEX SUN: “We've had a really, really good show this year. I think the weather's helped a lot. It means we've had a beautiful spring and summer and the stands at SOLEX have all looked absolutely fabulous. There have been loads of new products, loads of new colours, textures, fabrics and barbecues, The exhibitors have all pulled out all the stops. There have been ten new exhibitors here that we haven't had before, which is amazing. And from what feedback I've heard it has been an absolutely brilliant show. Some people have even taken orders, some of the very big orders.
"We've had new visitors and different visitors as well. We've tried to make sure that we're appealing to a different genre of customers which has hopefully been reflected by the visitors that have come in this year.
"My highlight of SOLEX is getting to see all the LOFA members in one place, speaking to them all, making sure they're all okay. Making sure they’re having a good time. Getting to see everybody in one place and getting to talk to people that I wouldn't normally get to talk to, and then seeing all the visitors, that's what I like about the show."

Kadai’s Plancha won the Best BBQ, and Christo from Kadai said: “We’re delighted to get the award. The challenge when you bring a new product to market is getting consumers to understand why they should have one. We give garden centres promotional materials and will be creating a lot of videos of cooking different things so people can be inspired."

Eco Fuego’s El Grande Fire Pit won Best Best Eco-Friendly Product and Tim Jeffs from Eco Feugo commented: "Winning awards like this are really important and paramount for us as it acknowledges our eco credentials. What we do in the Uk helps us promote our fire pits in countries across the world. "

Zest won Best New Furniture Product Award for its Terraza Kitchen Island and Best New Individual Product Award for its Ludlow Corner Pergola. Head of Commercial Development, Simon Davison, commented: “If the furniture category win wasn’t enough, we’re equally thrilled with the individual product award. We also saw some great customers and welcomed new ones to cement our SOLEX success.”

Zest’s new products for 2026 include with two lines available in a dark brown dipped finished which add to the extensive range already offered in natural wood. They are the Jersey Arbour (below) and the Lara 3 Seater Bench (above).
The Lara Bench is ideal for indoor sales as it comes boxed allowing retailers to have one on display with stock close by for customers to take away. A cover is also an option for add on sales to protect the bench during winter.

Giant Bowl retailing at £500 makes bold statement

New this year to the Rago UK range are the Rustic Planters and Corten Effect Plants, both designs causing much interest at the show. With a diameter of 110cm, the Giant Bowl retailing at £500 makes a bold statement but can still be lifted by two people.
This is down to the material used to make the Rago pots which is marketed as Stonelite. It is a fibre clay made with two types of naturally occurring magnesium salts which when blended, sets much like concrete. Just 1% of the pot is fibreglass mesh which aids the pot's durability and adds to its benefits of improved UV and frost resistance. Additionally, the dyes are mixed throughout the material, so the colour remains if the pot is knocked or scuffed.
"Most people will recognise fibre clay but we are using the traditional mix from 20 years ago which lasts longer than the modern mix," says Jason Frost.
Although Rago UK was only launched three years ago, Jason says it already has customers including Waitrose and Blue Diamond plus independent retailers.
Bespoke price tags individual to each retailer can be attached to the pots if required and pots have pre-drilled holes each with a bung so customers can use the pots indoors or outside.

First time exhibitor to SOLEX, Witt UK & Ireland Ltd, is representing three brands.
Gerry Kehoe, National Account Manager, said: "The Witt pizza ovens now have a revolving plate which reduce instances of hot spots. The Everdure range has been designed by chef Heston Blumenthal and includes the Cube – the ideal bbq for camping or taking to the beach. The third range to be exhibited is the Outdoorchef which includes a model with five burners for the ultimate in outdoor party catering."

Winning the Best Medium Sized Stand award at SOLEX is HEX Living, with is British made outdoor kitchens, furniture, pergolas and garden storage solutions.
Head of Sales, Rupert King, said Pebble Grey is a new colour for this year, while the modular kitchen in three price ranges from £5,000 up to £15,000 offered customers more choice.
Made in the Midlands, garden centres can have display sets with drop ship options delivering directly to customers without the need for them to hold stock.
"We also offer a lifetime warranty for all metal parts," said Richard.

Offering electric or traditional charcoal burning, it can prepare food for around four to six people. It comes with a 3m cable and will have a UK plug when it's ready for sales in 2026. It retails at £349, while the electric only version is £229. Accessories and tools are available to buy separately including a weather-proof cover.
DuoSpa from RotoSpa creates huge interest

Although not a new product, the DuoSpa from RotoSpa was creating interest. Designed for two or three people, it has proved to be extremely popular at the recent BBC Gardeners’ World Live show cementing its space as a great garden centre line attracting interest from retired and young couples...

James Stubbs said although it is small, its quality has not been compromised as it shares the same features as the top of the range models.
The company has also recently installed a DuoSpa on a London balcony where it offers the owners an unrivalled view of the city’s skyline.

Coming next year to garden centres is a range of contemporary and on trend tabletop and ground level fire pits under the Happy Cocooning brand.
Using camping gas containers, the tabletop burners offer a safe, dancing flame for around the six hours.
The range, which was launched at Spoga+gafa a few weeks ago, will be available through Bonfeu which comes under the umbrella of CFM Traders.
The company's Wouter Verbeek said this is the first time the range has been seen in the UK while Andy Firman, Sales, added: "We've had an awful lot of interest but we need to make sure we have all the marketing and pricing in place ready for the launch just after Christmas."

The company’s Peter Barker said the first morning of the show had already been a success with some large orders placed for the coming seasons.

Hartman is continuing its long line of outdoor games options with the introduction of Toca table football sets.
Available in a 2 Seat Lounge Set or Bench Set the aluminium frames come in either Brushed Nickel or Stone Weatherready cushions.
Anyone purchasing a minimum of 10 items from the Toca range at the show will be entered into a prize draw to win a visit to their garden from David Domoney who will offer an 30 minute master class, Q&A session plus signing of his new book Plants with Superpowers.


Arizona is a four or a six-seat dining set sold under the Helios range from the Trans Continental Group.
Extremely light weight, it is one of a number of sets at the show that are aluminium wrapped in a wood effect foil. Very lifelike, it offers the visual softness of wood with the durability of aluminium.
The wood effect is combined with green coating - another on trend colour at SOLEX 2025. The Arizona is available to order for retail sales in 2026.

W Garden Living goes from strength to strength with a stand at SOLEX having products to suit every customer and budget.
Of the many new products and ranges, the Penang, with circular table, four chairs and parasol brings a hint of Colonial style, while the more contemporary St Lucia, has the option of chairs in three colour ways - terracotta, green and grey.

Guests at the SOLEX Afterparty Event were treated to all the thrills and spills of the racetrack on Tuesday evening.
Star of the show was David ‘Crofty’ Croft who shared the inside track on all things F1 as well as presenting the prestigious SOLEX Awards.
There was also a feast of racetracks from around the globe as well as four F1 Silverstone Simulators. The top four racers battled it out for the coveted LOFA Cup in a final race, complete with live commentary.
LOFA's General Manager and SOLEX Event Director Gina Hinde said: "One word- AMAZING! Everyone enjoyed it, it was a great atmosphere – 'Crafty' was outstanding and the F1 simulators were very popular and the head-to-head rounded the evening off nicely."

SOLEX welcomed The Shropshire Lad – Adam Purnell to the Loving Outdoor Living area on day two (Wednesday).
Adam spent time with each exhibitor, sharing his expert hints and tips to help you get the very best out of every BBQ.

Adam is a true master of ‘fire cookery’. Winner of Heston Blumenthal’s Netflix and Channel 4 show Crazy Delicious, and a critic on MasterChef: The Professionals. He has been described as ‘one of the leaders in the UK street food and pop-up scene’.

Eco Fuego, Kadai, Zest, Broil King, HEX Living and Hartman were announced as the winners of the SOLEX 2025 Awards, which were presented at the NEC this evening.
The honours were announced at the SOLEX Awards Ceremony & F1 Afterparty – a night of celebration and networking after the first day of the show hosted by Sky Sports F1 commentator David "Crofty" Croft.

After the awards "Crofty" kindly auctioned the cardboard F1 drivers to the audience raising over £2,500 for Greenfingers and Perennial charities.
